When Allante lost his job as a Night Shift Supervisor at a steel service center and metal processing facility due to downsizing in the summer of 2025, he found himself facing an unexpected crossroads.
He set his sights on a new union career in commercial driving, one that offered strong earning potential, good benefits, and opportunities for advancement.
MTP helped him make that goal a reality,
Allante enrolled in Minnesota Training Partnership's Hennepin County Dislocated Worker Program and SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program. When Tara lost her IT position, she worked to regain connection and daily purpose. In the video below, you'll meet Benjamin, a Meat Cutter Apprentice and member of UFCW 1189. Through this innovative Registered Apprenticeship Program, apprentices learn directly from expert meat cutters and their fellow union members. MTP staff provide individualized, helpful guidance for the apprentices to help ensure their long-term success in the program. MTP also assists the partners with program coordination and administrative activities. Congrats Benjamin and UFCW 1189!
Alea joined MTP’s WESA program ready to build a more stable future, and she found the support, tools, and encouragement she needed to move forward with confidence. Through hands-on training, one-on-one guidance, and the steady partnership of her MTP Program Navigator, she strengthened her skills and discovered new belief in herself. Alea completed OSHA-10, sharpened her job readiness skills, and embraced the hard work it takes to grow. Her dedication paid off when she secured a new role as a Behavioral Health Aide, a position that aligns with her compassion and long-term career goals. Her journey shows what’s possible when determination meets the right support, and it reflects the kind of success MTP and our hardworking program participants seek to create every day.
