Minnesota Training Partnership (MTP) is a dynamic workforce development organization committed to building a competitive and inclusive workforce that enables all workers to prosper and reach their full potential. Through our targeted programs and strategic partnerships, we connect underserved and underrepresented individuals to high-quality, family-sustaining union jobs, thereby promoting economic mobility and strengthening the workforce.
Established by the leadership of the Minnesota AFL-CIO, MTP leverages strong relationships with unions, employers, and community stakeholders to create pathways to stable employment. Union jobs have long been a vehicle for advancing wage and income equity, offering working people access to economic and social stability. These jobs provide essential benefits such as higher wages, workplace protections, and career advancement opportunities, reinforcing workforce strength and competitiveness.
As a trusted workforce development intermediary, MTP facilitates collaboration between workers, unions, employers, educational institutions, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations to achieve outstanding employment and training outcomes. MTP currently implements a variety of publicly funded employment and training programs that prepare individuals for a wide range of in-demand occupations, including millwrights, phlebotomy technicians, clinic assistants, culinary professionals, and manufacturing and construction workers. Additionally, we provide State Dislocated Worker services in Hennepin County, MN and operate a robust SNAP Employment and Training Program through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
In addition to job skills training and placement programst, we support skill enhancement through incumbent worker training for local unions, develop new Registered Apprenticeship programs in collaboration with unions and employers, and help drive national initiatives that expand apprenticeship opportunities for all people.
By fostering strong partnerships and delivering high-quality workforce programs, MTP ensures that workers—regardless of background—have access to good union jobs that drive economic growth and prosperity across the region.
