UFCW Cannabis Workers Training Program: Enrolling Now for Oct. 19, 2026 Start!
In partnership with UFCW Local 1189 and UFCW, MTP is providing a short-term career training program for entry-level careers in the cannabis industry.
UFCW 1189 is Minnesota's original union for cannabis workers. The program starts October 19, 2026 and ends November 23, 2026.

Program Details
About the Program
The UFCW Cannabis Workers Training Program is 5 weeks in length. It takes place at the UFCW Local 1189 union hall (266 Hardman Ave N, South Saint Paul, MN 55075).
Participants will receive::
- Training in foundational cannabis industry concepts
- Work readiness skills training
-Assistance in identifying and applying for entry-level union jobs in the cannabis industry
- Supportive services to aid in completing the training program, obtaining a job, and keeping a job
- Individualized coaching
A Growing Industry
The cannabis industry continues to develop and expand in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota. MTP's UFCW Cannabis Workers Training Program is designed for people looking to gain the knowledge they need to gain entry-level employment in the sector.
The program is part of The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's (DEED's) broad-scale efforts to help businesses enter Minnesota's new adult-use cannabis industry, and to train workers for jobs in the cannabis field.
